What do you wish you had known before giving birth?

That birth is no big deal compared to the adjustment of being a mother and the months after giving birth.

That recovery is a bitch! And also your hormones are so insane afterwards, baby blues are a real thing...

That giving birth is no biggie compared the the whole aftermath of your body coping and healing. No one ever talks about the stings you get when you go pee, the seriously saggy belly that feels funny, the painful uterus massages, the hormones trying to balance themselves out again, the sleep deprivation, the bleeding. I wish ppl had talked about it more because you go into pregnancy thinking it’s this whole beautiful process and at the end there’s a beautiful baby and everything is peachy. Mommies don’t always talk about anything other than the belly scars/stretch marks and there’s more to that.

I feel like I really underestimated what recovery would be like. I am not one that likes asking for help and like to do things myself, but the first few days were SO difficult. The night sweats were also terrible...no one told me about that! Haha!

Be prepared for your plans to change and be accepting of it.

Recovery is worse then actually giving birth especially if you tear

Give yourself grace... sometimes, nothing goes as plan. Don’t compare yourself to other moms and your child to other children . Accept help.

Be over prepared pack your baby bag well plus packing calmed me down... Don't worry about being super attached to your baby you're tired emotional and overwhelmed it will come with time...
