Light skin / dark skin?

What is your opinion on the colorism that goes on among people of color? (Especially among those of African descent)

The colorism within the black community is a product of anti black racism outside of it. Internalized racism causes populations to dislike characteristics normally associated with the "inferior" group.

​You can also see this paradigm in many countries with a history of European or white colonization.

I think it's weird. I lived in the south for half my life so I lived in high African American populations. I always heard girls talking about "that light skinned boy" lol. (Especially in high school and what I worked at the mall!) 
​I never hear white people talking about peoples shades of whiteness lmao. 
​I think all skintones are beautiful though, so I don't get the point in grouping people based of how dark or light they are.

I think it is hurtful! My skin is lighter...my daughter has dark skin. She has come to me and told me that her skin is ugly....I cried! We are beautiful! Why does it have to be about light or dark? I was hurt because we have always told her just how beautiful she was...someone instilled this negative thought into her and it hurts me to see her hurt like that! I don't know why we just can love each other. It shouldn't be about a superior it inferior shade of skin...

As a African American woman the color of your skin is gonna always has some type of issue amongst other African American there's always been a light skin good hair or dark skin nappy hair thing it runs deep and will never change until we start teaching or children different that there is no difference and to love your self loopl

It's all over I guess ! I'm from pakistan I've always seen people making fun or dark skin ones and guys wanting to marry a white skin = gori(in my language) girl instead of a black skin = kali (in my language) it's pathetic and low thinking . It's 2014 and really strange how people are still stuck in their heads with their small vision and low thinking

It happens in all races but as usuall is singled out when it comes to blacks. White women also sometimes think straight hair is better then those with curly and blue eyes is better then those with brown etc. same for hispanic women. Domincans sometimes have issues with puertoricans. Its just all brain washing

I hated growing up and people saying "your too white to be Puerto rican" or "you can't be Spanish,  your so light skinned" people even went as far as asking my mom if my sister and I had the same father because I was lighter skinned with light eyes. While she had a darker skin tone with dark eyes. Why couldn't we both be Hispanic without having different dad's?  I don't get why people are obsessed with the idea or people relating skin to race.

I use to get teased a lot because I looked different but at the same time I was adored and loved my grandfather was Caucasian and my grandmother was black but ppl always wondered why I looked Asain and I still get jealous people hatin on me because of my hair and my skin color but it's not about what they think of me at the end of the day
