We went in for our first ultrasound today and was told we were only 6 weeks + 1 days versus 6 weeks + 4 days. The PA told us she could see the flutter of the heartbeat but said it was not significant enough to record. Is that normal?

O yea, three days difference is well within a margin of error. The dating scan is pretty accurate, but you can expect it to be different by a few days. Also, 6 weeks is early for a heartbeat. So not being able to record it is all totally normal. 
This is a good example of when women complain that their first appointment isn’t until 9-12 weeks it is actually maybe for the best. At 6 weeks even if things look good, there just isn’t a lot to see!
