Have you gotten a tattoo while pregnant?

**I KNOW MOST DOCTORS ADVISE AGAINST IT** & yes I know most places won’t tattoo if they know you’re pregnant. 
But I am curious on who has gotten one and everything was fine.

If you know you shouldn’t and people advise against it why does it matter? Just wait.

Not only can it cause infections due to excess blood in your system but ALSOcan completely destroy the tattoo and make it look awful within a week. On top of that since you’re pregnant your immune system is basically open to infection easily. Don’t be stupid.

Why not just wait the few months to get it? I mean it’s not that far away that it’s life or death to have the tattoo now.

No responsible tattoo artist would do this... so unless your going to some back street place, in which case being pregnant would be the least of your worries!!

My friend got one, she didn't know she was pregnant. The color wore almost completely off by the end of her pregnancy, it's like it just didn't take. It was done by a reputable place and talented artist, but the ink just did not take to her skin at all. It looks terrible. Just wait. The risk of infection isn't worth it.

I never asked a doctor but when I was 18 I did a blood drive and they told me if you have fresh tattoos you can not give blood because the ink is in your blood streams. I just assumed since I share blood with my baby the ink would be transferred to my baby

I got a tattoo and found out I was pregnant 3 days later.  I miscarried at 8 weeks and have always blamed myself for it.  Not worth the risk.

So not worth the risks. Sierously, wait the 9 months and do what's best by your baby. You're carrying another human, it's not just your body anymore.

you’ll be hard pressed to find an artist who will tattoo you while pregnant or breastfeeding. don’t do it.

You CAN do almost anything and have a small percentage of being fine. Does that mean you should do it? Absolutely not. If you are noticeably pregnant or tell the artist they will refuse. Its a lawsuit waiting to happen for them.
