Has anyone else's baby/child done this? (Referring to the grabbing/scratching he is doing with his left hand) My son does this to just about everything! Even my face and neck while I'm holding him or feeding him a bottle.

I will hear scratching on the baby monitor in the middle of the night. It is a coping mechanism for my 9 month old so he’ll scratch the mattress to put himself to sleep. Also when my husband is feeding him he will scratch at my husbands facial hair to put himself to sleep. I think since your babe is awake he’s just exploring new textures.

Yep.  My 8 month old is obsessed with scratching.  She notices different textures right away.  She loves crunching paper.  So far she doesn’t like to scratch human flesh, but it is probably only a matter of time.
