So how do people do anal and not be in pain?

I’m nasty. Into weird stuff, yet anal is awful. Hurts so bad, any penetration larger than a finger makes me want to smash my face off a trailer hitch. Any advice to break my anal virginity haahaha. So lube and try to upsize? Idk

If he isn't ready to play with it for at least an hour he doesn't deserve it. It takes time to do anal, it will hurt at first. He has to slowly upsise either his fingers or toys. After that it will start to lube itself.  If at any point it hurts tell him to slow down. He doesn't need to stick himself in until you're completely comfortable. 
You can not tense up when you're preparing for anal or you won't be able to do it. 
Lube and shoving it in isn't going to work.

i’ve done it a few times with very gentle partners. they would use lube and ease into it slowly. i would handle the pain for a moment, they would stay still inside and ask if i’m okay, and once the pain starts to subside, i let them know it’s okay to keep going, slowly. then it gets less uncomfortable and they start to go faster as they sense i’m okay with. sometimes if it’s hard to bear, i have them pull out and try again. it’s very intimate! i’m fortunate that the partners i’ve tried it with all handled it in a very similar manner — slowly, and at my pace, and super conscious about how i’m doing. i personally don’t enjoy it much so it’s not something i do regularly

Not just any kind of lube will work. Like you don’t wanna try to use a water based lube.  If you use the correct lube, anal can be pleasurable.
