Birth control: when is it safe?

My doctor gave me a prescription for BC but didn't really explain anything and at the time I didn't ask questions. I started to take it 3 weeks ago. I've been taking them everyday at around the same hour. When will it be perfectly safe to only take birth control without condom?

Birth control is 99%effective when taken perfectly.   Most people don't take it at exactly the same time everyday making that effective %go down.   After 7 days of being on the pill you're covered as much as you're going to be.   STDs are also a concern if you are going swimming without a life jacket.   Both partners should be tested and monogamous before hand.

Most birth control pills are completely effective after a week. My doc told me to wait 2 weeks after taking the pills. Some will say to check your booklet that came with your pills bc it may tell you in there... I waited about 2.5 weeks to have unprotected sex on the pill and didnt get pregnant. As long as you use them correctly (at the same time and everyday use) then you should be fine 😌
