Turned down free changing table, am I wrong?
My aunt-in-law offered to give us a beautiful handmade changing table. Problem is, the bedroom/nursery is too small. The wall that the door swings open to has a dresser and a kids books stand. The wall across from the door has a dresser and a closet. In that corner is a cool cube bookcase/storage unit that perfectly fits in the corner and under the window on the adjacent wall. The adjacent wall with the window has about 40” of space. The last wall will have the crib, next to the door.
All that said, I need to use that precious 40” for something useful. Both dressers are packed and there’s nowhere else for them. I really really want a big plush recliner. Nursing and rocking baby, cuddling him, having something to nap on next to baby’s crib, the chair my toddler and i will read books on. Idk sounds so nice.
So I turned down the changing table. I cannot fit both unless something covers the window or the closet opening. My husband and MIL are like WHY?? Where will you change the baby? I was like idk on the rug, plus he won’t be able to roll off the floor. My MIL was like “that’ll get old”. I used to change my little brothers’ diapers on the floor but I was a teenager then, never bothered me much at the time.
Should I reconsider the changing table? Is a recliner a frivolous thing?
