Do you think it’s right?
So my 10 year old son has autism he’s in 5th grade. Today in class according to the principal they are painting monsters from a movie they watched Thursday last week. Well today he was painting his monster green and someone he doesn’t get along was somewhere else. I had contacted the art teacher just letting her know my son and the other student don’t get along so she wouldn’t place them at a table together. Well the school Phone rang in class and the student decided to pour red paint all over it then rip up the monster. They were pre made paper meshey monsters. And he tends to throw an emotional outburst when somethings he does gets ruined. Well then the other students trying to handle it to try to prevent an outburst well it didn’t work and then he decided to spill paint and water all over the floor and destroy other peoples monsters. Then she got off the phone and saw what happened and she just sent my son to the principals office. They are 100% aware of his needs and they gave him an after school detention for this Thursday. I don’t feel like it’s right neither does my husband (his step father). He apologized afterwards and clean up the mess. He was just very upset he didn’t mean to make a mess in the room. Do you all think this is right?
We’ve tried multiple medications and nothing has worked, we’re trying to find a behavioral therapist that’ll take our insurance. Usually when he’s upset he just wants to snuggle with my husband he really treats him as his father because his real father always yelled at him the most and never did much, I was stuck doing everything for the kids while he played in his own world (ex-husband) theres a whole other story to why I divorced their father.
