Is waxing down there really as bad as they say?(long and need lots of answers, pls!) ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

So Iโ€™ve never gotten a wax downstairs before, but I plan to get a Brazilian wax around mid May before labor. My due date is June 10th. My question is what can I expect getting waxed, more importantly a Brazilian wax for the very first time? Will I be sore and irritated for a few days after? When I shave, I hardly ever get razor burn or anything, but know waxing isnโ€™t the same thing.

I wasnโ€™t scared at first, but Iโ€™ve seen some women on Glow talk about how painful it is, especially your first time and while being pregnant with more blood flow down there. I also saw a video of a girl getting waxed for the first time on Instagram. It only showed her face, and she was screaming in pain! Is it really that bad? I have a pretty high tolerance for pain though. Iโ€™ve gotten my eyebrows waxed many times, and it doesnโ€™t bother me at all! Iโ€™m sure a wax downstairs is a completely different experience though!

Give me all the details, and share your experiences. I want to be as prepared as possible! I hope I donโ€™t seem crazy wanting to get a Brazilian for the first time while Iโ€™m 8 months pregnant lol. Iโ€™m definitely going to go through with it though, but would it be better if I get one before Iโ€™m that far along, like this month, and then get another one in mid May? How long does it last before the hair grows back? Also, should I go in with a full on bush or can it just be a little prickly? Lol. I donโ€™t like to let it get too crazy down there though. Haha! Oh and will I be covered up at all, or will it be like getting a Pap smear and just being completely out there? Sorry for all the questions! I would really appreciate any advice!

Hi - Iโ€™ve never gotten one either but I was just curious as to why you would get one before labor (especially if you donโ€™t usually get them)? Doctors expect women to have pubic hair. Is there another reason Iโ€™m missing? Iโ€™m not criticizing your decision I just wondered the reason.

Iโ€™ve always wanted to get one, but I was always like eh Iโ€™ll just shave lol. And I just thought why not get one now when itโ€™s hard to see to shave down there, and since I might get to swim before I go into labor itโ€™ll be perfect!

Hi I'm an esthetician who works at a waxing studio! I do Brazilians all day long!!!To answer your questions, yes they can hurt a little more during pregnancy because of increased blood flow. They can also hurt more right before and right after your period. My recommendation is to get one now and stay consistent, every 4-5 weeks. Anything after 6 weeks will feel like the first time all over again...meaning itll hurt. I know this from personal experience ๐Ÿค—Some other tips before you go-1- hair should be about 1/4 inch (about the length of a grain of rice)2- find a good place with good reviews. Dont settle for a nail salon!! 3- during the visit, let your esthetician know you're pregnant so she can ensure your comfort. 4- about 2-3 days prior to appt, try to exfoliate. This will help break loose some ingrowns or hair that's right under the surface. 5- also, try to be as clean as you can. Like showering prior to the appt. 6- if you're self conscious, dont be. Just ensure your personal hygiene is good. Might be a good idea to take a personal wipe with you and use the bathroom right before. Your esthetician will thank you!! After wax- yes, you may be a little red and irritated, especially after your first time. Everyone is different though. But Bush the third day, you'll be incredibly happy with it. 3 days after waxing, exfoliate and moisturize! Also, avoid sex, working out, baths/hot tubs for the next 12-24 hours.Sorry for the long reply๐Ÿคฃ

Typically, it's just near the butthole and about and inch or two outside of it. Just ask your esthi. Dont be embarrassed by it! We've literally seen everything

Does a Brazilian was include your butt crack? Iโ€™ve been so afraid to call and ask that over the phone lol. It seems so embarrassing. Iโ€™m wanting my whole butt, the crack and Bikini area done but I donโ€™t know what to ask for.

Good luck! You can message me if you have any more questions. Also, I forgot to mention that if you're high risk, you might want to consult with your dr prior to your wax ro get the go ahead

The first time is by far the worst. I have been getting them for years. But it does hurt more when you are pregnant than usual because of the effects blood flow, especially down there. I will continue to get waxed bc how the heck can I shave if I can't even see what I'm doing. LolP.S. Sugaring is less painful and had less irritation afterwards.

Iโ€™ve gotten them before and yes they do hurt but never so bad that I was screaming out in pain. I usually take pain killers 30 min before (I know that may be harder while pregnant) and then my sister gave me some cream you can rub on before that helps numb a bit. I know it only helps a very little bit but better than nothing. also Iโ€™d highly recommend getting one now and seeing how your body reacts. It made me get really painful ingrown hairs down there and my husband has to go down and pull them all out. Iโ€™d imagine dealing with that while in labor would be horrible.

That would be excruciating! Iโ€™m definitely going to get one some time soon to see how it is for me. Thank you so much!

I got one once, expecting it to be super painful... I was surprised when it wasnโ€™t too bad! Yes, it can hurt and be uncomfortable but it doesnโ€™t last very long! In my opinion it was so worth it! Iโ€™ll be doing it before my labor too.

Heyy!I understand the wanting to be groomed before going into labor, Iโ€™ve gone to salons, as well wax at home. If I can offer you any advice at all, itโ€™s get a bikini wax instead of a Brazilian, youโ€™ll thank yourself in the by the end of it! A Brazilian removes more hair than a bikini. A bikini wax removes all the hair along your bikini line, A Brazilian gets in areas that are a bit more sensitive.

Ive gotten them every 4 weeks for over a year, itโ€™s worth it to continue doing it as your hair grows in much finer. I went in full on my first time and the waxer suggested a sprinkle length is the best, so Iโ€™d trim before. She did trim before starting. It hurt but it was also over very quickly. Iโ€™ve continued through pregnancy. 20 weeks now and I havenโ€™t noticed it hurting more but Iโ€™ve been doing them for a while now. I also suggest finding someone you are comfortable with and sticking with one person. When I go in now we just chat the whole time. I get a full Brazilian and the back strip. I prefer it tidy but I have left a strip before and my husband is a big fan ๐Ÿ˜‚. Hope this helps!

Honestly I think it depends on your personal pain tolerance but Iโ€™ve never thought they were anything near as bad as theyโ€™re made to seem on shows and movies. Just make sure you go somewhere reputable, theyโ€™ll go faster and if you let them know itโ€™s youโ€™re first time theyโ€™ll kind of talk you through it. Iโ€™ve always used European wax center. If you have one near you I recommend trying there. Plus youโ€™ll get 50% off if youโ€™re a first time customer.
