Is the Owelt baby heartrate and oxygen level monitor worth the price?

Our LO came at 35wks 2days. He stayed in the NICU for 6 days and was released. Our pediatrician recommended the Owlet to us. Our NICU dr said it was a waste. I’m glad we “wasted” the money. It’s easy to use. You have an app on your phone. We never got any false readings. The only alert we ever got was if we got him too far away from the base. Battery life is good. I tried to only use it for sleep periods. It came with the 3 different sizes of socks. Those are easy to switch when the time comes. My peace of mind was worth the money. Now that he’s older I don’t use it as faithfully. I will definitely start using it again whenever I move him out of my room.

I love my owlet. I have had no false alarms or anything in the 8 months I’ve been using it. The nurse in me wants actual numbers, which is part of the reason I love it. I can also check on him while I am at work (I work midnights), so that Gabe me extra peace of mind when I went back to work. We got around the price a bit by adding to our registry. We didn’t expect anyone to buy it, but we used the 15% off I purchased registry items as well as gift cards we got from the shower to buy it. I think we ended up paying $50-ish out of pocket for it.

if the price throws you off, look into the Snuza they have two versions. one is 109 and the other is 80 i believe. they clip onto the diaper and monitor abdominal movement and alarm if they baby stops breathing. it doesn’t track oxygen levels or respiratory rates like the owlet, but it gives me peace of mind.

My husband is finishing up medical school and despite us having a healthy baby is very much afraid of the bad things that can happen. So to ease his mine we first bought the snuza. The snuza was good but as she got bigger it started falling off and the alarm would go off, scaring all of us. Then I had finally had enough and spent the money to buy the Owelt and I love it. My husband is obsessed with the ability to see her BPM and O2 on real time. He needed it for peace of mind and it was worth every penny. We actually only spent $200 because we bought a refurbished one. Not a single issue, we sleep much more soundly with it. Especially me cuz my husband isnt shaking me every 15 minutes to check to make sure the baby is breathing.

We love our Owlet! It was definitely worth the money for us!👌🏾 As first-time parents, it has given us so much peace. A lot of people say they have experienced false alarms. We have not had any false alarms. However, I know they happen.

Do it! We absolutely regret not buying one and plan to use some of our tax return on one because I hate the system we have! We bought an AngelCare mat and I hate it!
