Hey there!

My partner and I are thinking about getting married, we live in Canada.

I am a Canadian citizen, he was born in South Africa and then lived in the states for 7 years, so he is a citizen of both countries. He is a Canadian permanent resident and has been here for about 5 years.

He is paranoid that signing a marriage license before applying for citizenship will look suspicious and cause problems. (He’s paranoid about that stuff after growing up in SA). Whereas I feel like marrying first wouldn’t affect anything and might even help.

Just curious if anyone has been in a similar situation and has opinions. Thanks!!
