I had an epidural and they didn’t require one as long as I could pee on my own in a bed pan 🤷🏻‍♀️

I had both of my sons naturally without medication. At the hospital, it was required for a catheter for L&D. Each hospital is different though.

I think it depends on the facility. Mine you only get one if you can’t pee (even with an epidural) at my girlfriends with every epidural comes a cath 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think at most hospitals it’s required if you have an epidural, maybe not all? Idk. But honestly I loved my epidural and catheter, I had the most amazing and relaxing, pain free birth and recovery! Wouldn’t have traded it for anything. Lol. Definitely hoping for the same experience with my 2nd due in May!

I had an epi and I was not required to get one in 2014 at a hospital which was recently built, pretty high tech. Actually they never even mentioned it🙃

Yes when I had an epidural with my 1st birth, no when I had an unmedicated 2nd birth. They wanted me to use the bed pan and I could not pee on display/demand 😂😂 So I sweet talked the nurse into letting me get off the monitors and use the bathroom lol!
