What does it mean when the baby is “measuring {insert # of weeks here}”

What does it mean when someone says their baby is measuring 7 weeks instead of 5 and half? That’s just an example. Sorry if this is a dumb question. Does it mean the woman is actually further along than what she initially expected or the baby is simply growing quicker than normal?

Baby is just growing quick. It’s normal

At a very early ultrasound it’s usually more likely that the pregnancy is farther along than originally thought, usually because ovulation happened earlier than anticipated. Scans aren’t perfect but they’re pretty accurate in the early days. 
Later on in pregnancy it’s more likely that the baby is just growing quickly.

That early on, you’re probably further along. But as you get into the 2nd trimester they start growing at their own pace
