Getting over a breakup stories?

I'm in a really bad place right now, I gave up my life for a guy that didn't work out. I have no friends all I have is myself and all these broken dreams. The one thing that does make me feel better is knowing there have been so many people in my position and they made it out of the sadness. I want to hear the sad breakup stories and how you got over it. Knowing other people went through this and got out happier motivates me so much.

My ex and I broke up after almost a year an a half. I let him live with me for most of the relationship because the only other place he had to sleep was his sister’s couch. I felt bad. We agreed to move in together after a year. He had a steady job.
But then he decided to get a new job. “Don’t rush into leaving your old one until you are certain you’ll like this one.” I warned. He didn’t listen of course and quit his old job to work full time in this new one. The problem was this job was purely based off of commission and the days he was having he wasn’t bringing in any money. I persevered because it was what he wanted. 
But then weeks and months went by and he didn’t pay a penny towards food or rent. He wasn’t going into work so wasn’t earning any money. I had to do it all alone on a part-time wage. He would bitch about me to everyone because there was never any food. That would be because he’d eat it all with two days of me buying it. 
He didn’t help me clean or tidy, he just sat and played games. And he then began sexually assaulting me because I wasn’t giving him sex. He waited till I was asleep. He also admitted to me that if I hadn’t woken he wouldn’t have stopped there.
I had enough and left him. The first month was unbearable. I cried everyday even though I hated him, because I’d given him so much, emotionally and financially and I had nothing to show for it other than an overdraft and a broken heart. I don’t really know how I got over it, I just did. I kept myself busy. I dragged myself out of bed when the only thing I wanted to do was stay in and cry. I surrounded myself with friends. I got drunk. I got high. I started to laugh again and smile without reason to. 
And then I just stopped caring. He was gone out of my life. He has a shit dead-end job with a rebound girlfriend and I’m settled with the love of my life and my best friend. I don’t miss him one bit and I’m so happy with my life now.
It sucks so bad at first but my best advice is to just keep smiling and laughing. Watch dumb videos on youtube or whatever you can to make yourself laugh. And know that it will get better and you’ll find someone so much better than him in no time!

I met started dating my ex-husband while I was in grad school. After I finished we moved because he was going to school. I followed him and started looking for work. I didn't have much success finding a job where we were but I kept at it because we lived the city and my ex-husband was doing well at his job. He wanted to go back to school to change careers and I was working part time. Some shit hit the fan for him emotionally and our marriage was over after 4.5 years together and almost 1.5 years of marriage. 
I was living with him and his sister and could not afford to live in my own with my paycheck. I didn't have any family close and only 1 friend in the area. I had to quit my job. So at 30 years old I was quitting the only job I had to move back in with my parents while I figured out what to do with my life. It sucked. I struggled emotionally for a while due to a failed relationship and failed career. I tried to focus on hobbies and talking to my friends and family more so I wouldn't dwell on the sad things. 
Eventually I found my almost dream job and ended up moving across the country. I tell myself that my marriage had to end for my career because my ex-husband would never have moved for my job. It was what was best for me. 
So try to focus on what you can control and reach out to your family and friends that you do have.
