Mastitis/clogged duct?

Sorry for the boob picture!!
I’m a first time mom, my daughter is a month old. Just today I noticed I had a light red patch under my nipple. That breast is tender to the touch but there’s no lumps of any kind. I feel totally fine, just my boob hurts. I know women say mastitis feels like the flu, but I wonder if this could be the start of it or if it’s just a clogged duct.

Any idea? I have my 6 week check up on Friday but don’t really want to sit around waiting for it to get worse!

A clogged duct is the first step in mastitis.   Definitely work it out ASAP.  Warm compresses and massage while nursing, pumping, and in the shower are super helpful.

If it hurts, it’s probably the start of mastitis. Keep pumping and nursing and point her chin toward the spot (looks like the football hold might be best), massage the area toward the nipple especially with a warm compress or in the shower even though it hurts, and don’t put any pressure on your breasts by sleeping on them or wearing tight bras. I’d recommend to GET ON IT because that gets out of hand super quickly. If it gets bad, you’ll have chills and a fever. It sucks. Good luck

Pineapple juice🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 get yourself a giant can of 100% juice and chug. It melts the clog. My left boob has a duct that gets clogged like once a week . The juice has saved my life and is delicious.

I used to put a heating pad on the area on and off and keep feeding and pumping. You can massage the area too. I know it’s extremely painful but it gets better pretty quick.

I had a clogged duct a few days ago. My one breast was very tender to the touch and hard, you could feel and see the lumps. I had to massage it lots and have my husband help clear it.

It looks like a clogged duct. Drink a ton of water, nurse/pump like crazy, and if you can get it, take lecithin (it helps thin your milk to reduce clogs. I had mastitis 5-6 times in the first 4mo of breastfeeding my first and everything I mentioned helped get rid of it within 48 hours.
