Custody help

My boyfriend keeps threatening to take my child and use things against me in court. He said he’s going to play dirty. The things is he already has an 8 year old and only sees him once a week. He doesn’t have a job so he has no money. Should I get a lawyer or what should I do? And what will happen when I get a lawyer?
