Why do they call us gringos if we’re Latinos

My mom and other Latinos sometimes call me a “gringo” but I’m Latina .. and basically a “gringo is an American who isn’t a Latino .. but I’m a Latino ..

Ive been a victim of this. 
& i think they say it bc: 
1, the simple fact that i was born in the US.
2, because i adapted to the American culture in their eyes (but in reality i carry myself different than Americans and different from Hispanics)
3, bc i speak Spanglish 🤣
But keep your head up, some of the raza is just burlona.

they are just doing it to tease you. If you dont speak spanish, have fair skin and most likely born in the us they will do it.
