Nasal bone

P

I’m 23 and 22 weeks pregnant with my first baby!! Everything was going okay until today :( I found out they couldn’t find the nasal bone on my baby girl, we had two ultrasounds in the last week and no luck on both. I know this can be a sign for Down syndrome. During my earlier genetic testing my blood work came back normal and the fluid behind the neck was normal as well. I read that it is common to not be able to find the nasal bone in African Americans and my baby is biracial. I was wondering if any other mamas out there had the same issue and their baby is okay? Obviously we will love her with everything we have regardless if she has an extra chromosome or not, but I’m just so worried. They’re able to get me in for testing tomorrow but it usually takes a day for results to come in so I’d have to wait till Monday to know anything. Any reassuring advice is much appreciated, thank you!

I’m going through this right now but I didn’t do the early testing. Everything else was perfect but the doctor said that our baby’s nasal bone was measuring shorter than average and it’s common in my race (AA). I decided to take the blood test just in case and it’s an up to 2 weeks wait. Trying not to stress but it is haaaard. Glad everything came out great for you!

How did this turn out for you? I just got results of a shortened nasal bone as well, although all previous testing can back normal.

Awesome! I wanted to say that it was probably just a fluke if your bloodwork and the scan were all fine . 🙏🏾
