I’m from an asian family and, yes, it’s still a thing that exists 🤦‍♀️ but honestly, I’m kind of over looking for love. I kind of don’t believe it exists, everyone just wants to hook up. And at least in this way, I can find someone to take care of me and someone my family approves of and it takes away the stress of dating idk

Idk I mean it’s your life, but I think it’s pretty sad to just settle for some stranger just so you have someone to take care of you. It’s 2019. Learn to take care of yourself!

If culturally it’s acceptable and it would provide the things you’re looking for in life (commitment and stability) I don’t see why not. It’s not like a family would choose a bad person yo arrange you with and I truly believe we have the capacity to love anyone, but that some people are easier to love than others. Good luck, sayings hard now I feel for anyone who has to go through it.

I’ve read an interesting article in my anthropology class that actually studied marriages and it was found that arranged marriages are the ones with the least divorces vs. marriages that involved people choosing who they wanted to spend the rest of their lives with . It was found that people who’s  marriages were arranged usually ended up falling in love with their partner or building a strong bond that they wouldn’t divorce even if they could (Ex; some religions don’t believe in divorce) ... so who knows , you might just end up with someone you’ll fall deeply and madly in love with 🤷🏼‍♀️ .

I’m Asian too. As long as it’s an arranged AND love marriage if will work for sure. I did the whole arranged marriage thing.. went by my parents wishes, saw some red flags (which I realized later on were red flags) but still signed papers for my family’s happiness. Ended in divorce 🤷🏻‍♀️ not saying that’s always the case but it was horrible and very traumatic for me and I just hated the thought of getting married after that. Friend pushed me to try online dating a year later and found my now husband on there 🙃

Wouldn’t be for me but I worked with two ladies that had arranged marriages and we talked about it one day. They said it was their cultural norm and both said they were happily married. Said divorce was very uncommon for them and very common for us. Statistically speaking they’re absolutely right. If they arranged a marriage with an asshole I’d absolutely not go through with it . Just depends on what you want

My friends husband was through arranged marriage, she’s persian- and her husband is wonderful and she’s very happy, sometimes these things work out so do what will make you happy. It doesn’t matter what others think

I've known some people that were very happy, and some that weren't.   If my culture did them, I wouldn't have minded my parents helping me like that (after a certain point).  I trust them to have my best interest in mind.  So much depends on your relationship with your parents.
