Do I need to have the same gauge size for nose ring?

I just changed my nose stud to a hoop. I’m unaware of the gauges for both. Is it normal for it to feel a little sore? It was my first time changing it and had a little bit of trouble

i think most hoops are bigger than studs in general it’s probably stretched a little or just irritated from switching as long as it doesn’t bleed you’ll be fine

Yes they should be the same gauge. You may have unintentionally stretched it, I believe the typical gauge for a nostril piercing is a 20g. Just don’t fiddle with it and keep it clean and you should be fine.
