Has anyone gotten their wisdom teeth removed while being awake? (Local Anastasia)

I already have anxiety as it is and I’m so nervous about this. How was your experience? Is it horrible?

Are they in the gums or already erupted? If they’re in I would recommend at least local and nitrous. If they’re out just local. If it’s really bad then general anesthesia. Local anesthetic is just the numbing injection :)

I was “awake” lol they gave me Valium and Xanex before the procedure so I felt good when I walked in and then laughing gas and local anesthetic during.  The procedure was 1 1/2 hours but it felt like 5 mins and I didn’t feel a thing until after.

I was awake. And, the doc had to break each one because they were compacted! Each, the echo in my head will forever haunt me. But, I lived!

Yes in bootcamp. It was the worst thing of my life. I wasn't numb on one side and they didn't believe me and I had a panic attack in the chair.

I got all 4 of mine out at once . Im 25 and have 2 babies so i just thought it would be a walk in the park... NO. They were all impacted. Top ones werent bad and none hurt just a lot of pressure and tugging and pulling and grinding the teeth in half. The after part is what will get you , when the numbing wore off because thats all i had it was terrible plus i had to take care of my 10 month old and 4yr old alone so no pain meds i took some tylenol or whatever they gave me like that but thats it and the back off my mouth was so swollen i looked like a chip munk on one side

I was a senior in hs when I had all four removed. They gave me laughing gas and I was fine until the end the dentist said a dorky joke “it’s not brain surgery, unless I slip!!!” in a real funny way and I cracked up for a solid 30 minutes after leaving. My mom tried to get me to stop with empty threats that made me laugh more 🤣
I didn’t swell bad at all either, I was quite lucky. My friend had it done a week after and she looked like a chipmunk. It really varies but she wasn’t in pain either, just swelled, I’m sure you’ll be fine!

I did. The doctor said it was gonna be way worse so i was really scared but at the same time i just wanted it out. I think in 5 min it was out, i just felt pressure from him trying to move it, but no pain at all and i did get a few stitches also.

My boyfriend got all 4 out while awake in one sitting and he said it wasn’t bad at all. He said it was no worse than filling a cavity. He is a tough muffin lol.
