AP English language and composition??

So my teacher recommended me to take AP English next year because it can really help with getting into college. I just want to know if anyone here knows more about an AP English class. Is it very difficult? Will there be lots of homework?

It depends on your teacher and school. AP classes aren’t that bad. Look to see if your desired college accepts the credit. Honestly, colleges are looking to see if you challenged yourself, but taking an AP class isn’t going to be a huge difference. Take it if you want, don’t if you don’t want to.

It can be difficult cause you have to write a lot of analysis papers but it is worth it because the AP classes usually count for some college credit and so you are basically getting to take a college class for free instead of paying for it later.

I taught AP Lit, which is a different course than AP language, but the general expectations are the same. Yes, they are rigorous. This is for college credit so the expectation is college level work.

AP Literature is one of my favorite classes. I am a strong writer and genuinely enjoy reading; likewise, I find that the ones who either struggle or fall into boredom are the ones who do not naturally like to write, read, and interpret about pieces of literature.

I found AP easy cause it was all about being creative. Fun intellectual discussions and exploring creativity through writing. It’s filled with kids who wondered why other students couldn’t understand Shakespeare. I loved it.
Grammar and rules is what I found difficult and that’s what they did in regular English class. We didn’t.
This is in Canada though if that makes a difference.

super difficult, a lot a lot of writing assignments & essays. most people end up with a B, which is the same amount of credits you would receive if you got an A in a regular english class. which is way easier!

i took AP english 2 my senior year (over 3 years ago now) and it was fine! my teacher hated me but i don’t particularly remember a lot of HW. the tests were kinda hard. if you’re good at reading/writing, you’ll be fine. i got an A
