I had a birth photographer with my last kiddo with my ex husband. He was in the marines and was deployed at the time he was born. My photographer was amazing. She stayed by my head. She got some absolutely amazing pictures. I’m considering doing it again this time around with my boyfriend if we can swing the cost.

I had one with my second baby and have no regrets! I love having those moments captured and wish I had for my first - all I have is blurry pics my husband took. I had a doula too, but my birth photographer was such a calming presence and I barely noticed her. I actually really wanted her to get a crowning photo but things moved quickly and she wasn’t able to. I will definitely be having a photographer this time too as long as the hospital allows.

One of my closest girlfriends is a phenomenal newborn tog and she was going to doing birth photos for us but I was admitted at 2:45pm and our daughter was born shortly after 5pm at a hospital an hour away. I told her not to waste the gas.  Maybe this time though....since it's our 4th and final. We will just see how things go at that time

I did with my son and I don’t regret it at all! With my daughter, my labor was so long that I don’t even remember anything. I remember hearing she was born and that was it. I don’t remember anything until 2 days later. So I didn’t want to not have pictures with my son in case that happened again. I know lots of places will allow it. Ask at your hospital and see the policy. It was 100% worth it to me.

I was in the room when my sister gave birth so I was able to snap some pictures once her daughter was born!

I will not be. During my first labor, I ended up pushing for over two hours because she was stuck. And I looked like I got hit by a truck. The pictures that my sister took were great of the baby and my husbands first reaction to seeing his daughter. And his sister took a video of the kitty cat cries she was making. All pictures of me are cringe worthy. This time I will do the same. Have my family members capture the moments they see and share them with all of us. I don’t need a professional. I don’t think I could handle the added stress.
