In my opinion a parent should always ask about their child.

Depends on the relationship between the parents. Some custodial parents weaponize their children. Some non-custodial do the same. I think this question is extremely subjective.

We don’t ask about my husbands 5 yo daily. He’s with us every Tuesday and every other weekend. We know if there’s any issues, his mom will contact us. Her and I have a great relationship so she often tells me about little things. And he knows he can call us whenever. Obviously, if he’s sick or something else is going on, we ask how he is doing. But no, we don’t ask how he is every day.

It all depends on, if sick or hurt my son’s father will check on him. Also we allow him to have a cell phone so when he’s at home with me, his dad can call him anytime, and same for when he’s there(every other weekend and every other week in the summer)..

I call my son every single night before bed when he is away from me no matter where he is. I can’t imagine not at least saying good night and telling him that I love him. His biological father will go weeks without calling him and has literally never asked about him even once in over 8 years. He is supposed to call every Thursday and have him every other weekend but he didn’t see him for 6 1/2 months last year and called him maybe three times during that time? I could text him that B was in the hospital and he wouldn’t respond, just get on Facebook and ask everyone else if they knew how he was because I wasn’t telling him anything. 🙄

My husband gets one phone call a day with his child and she does to when we have her.
