I’ve been with my boyfriend about a year now. We have a big age gap.

I asked him about his previous relationships and he said he’s either broken up with them or it’s been mutual.

He then said he’s never felt as if he wants to be with someone forever.

This really hurt, I’m not sure why. Obviously you have to be realist and know it may not work, but I like to think it would and like to imagine a ‘forever’ with him. A future together. Marriage, family and all that.

Is it a bad sign that he doesn’t think about that? Or feel like that with me? To know he never has makes me worry that I’m no different and I’m just ‘another girlfriend’ rather than someone special.

I don’t know how different our relationship has been to his previous, I’d like to think it’s different. But how am I to know?

Any advice on how I should deal with this would be appreciated :)

** he talks about future plans like holidays and spending christmas together so I don’t know if that’s a sign he does think about our future together? Not necessarily marriage and family as I’m not thinking about that for the near future, but for later
