Do you always lose mucus plug before labor?

With my first, I lost a lot of my mucus plug before labor started. I had her at 38w6d. Now I’m 39 weeks tomorrow with my second baby, and I haven’t lost ANY yet! Do you HAVE to lose some before labor? Or is that fact that I haven’t lost any no indication of when I go into labor? I’m so done being pregnant 😭

I either didn’t lose my mucous plug or didn’t realize it. My water broke but I didn’t have contractions...was eventually induced.

No, I was already in labor with my first and I never lost it with my last two babies.

With my first I didn’t lose any until 8hours into labor. With this one I’ve been losing small chunks  since 35 weeks

With my first I lost my plug, waters broke, contractions started straight away every 5mins lasting 30 seconds, and he was born 12hrs later.
With my second I had irregular contractions for 60hrs until they broke my waters (I was 7cm at that point). He was born 1hr later. Didn’t notice my plug at any point, I guess it was in teeny tiny pieces.

I lost mine about an hour after my water broke (spontaneously).  So I was clearly already in labor.

Nope.  I was also told you don’t always notice it and it really doesn’t mean anything.
