BRCA gene
Hey guys! Test results haven’t come in yet, but I may have a mutation of the BRCA1/2 gene(s), as my father carries it. This could make me between 69-70% more likely to develop breast cancer and 17-44% more likely to develop ovarian cancer.
I wanted to reach out to women who have had some experience dealing with cancer; I have no problem with taking preventative measures (never planned on having kids or anything), but I was wondering if it’s really worth going through should I be tested positive for the mutation. Do you think risking it would be worse than getting surgery to prevent it? Thank you for any input!!
