When to start storing breast milk

I see posts of a lot of women having stashed of frozen breast milk. I’ve been breastfeeding since baby has been born and he’s one month old. I only have enough milk for him to eat but not to store.

I have a 6 week old and 70 ounces in my freezer. 
I breastfed on demand (every 2-3 hours) and pump once or twice a day. I either pump when she napping or after she goes to bed for the night (because she won’t wake up for 3-4 hours). I find pumping 45-60 minutes after she eats to be best.

Use a haaka while nursing and try adding in a pump immediately after nursing at least once a day. It's easiest to add it during a nap or when baby goes to bed at night. I started pumping at 3 weeks and had a reasonable stash going when I went back to work at 9 weeks. Also, be sure to introduce the bottle before returning to work and to pump while baby is taking the bottle to keep your supply regulated. If you need to build your supply, try pumping immediately after each nursing session.

Do you have to go back to work or will you be staying home with baby? Honestly, if I didn’t have to go back to work I wouldn’t even worry about a milk stash.  But since I will have to go back to work in 12 weeks and had trouble keeping up with my previous little girls demands through pumping, I started pumping this time much earlier so I can build up my supply and stash to hopefully cover any short fall I might have when I return. My little girl is just over a month old and I have 32oz frozen and that’s just from the past two weeks roughly. I don’t pump a lot, usually only once or twice and only one beast while my baby nurses on the other side. I aim for storing 4oz per day but not everyday do I get a chance to pump or feel like pumping. I also have a Haaka which has been great for the middle of the night leaks from my non-nursing side, I am very surprised at how much I get with little effort, especially since I have never been a strong pumper. I would say if you need a stash, get a Haaka and start pumping, if you haven’t started already.

I breastfeed and pump also. The doctor told me if you pump your milk on both breast at the same time it’s like you are pumping for twins!
