7 weeks no fetal pole

According to lmp 7 weeks and 4 days. I have Irregular periods. Last period was December 21st 5 days long, and had sex January 1st. Went In for the ultra sound today , and sac was found but no fetal pole. Am I just earlier than the doctor thinks I am?
