First go at IVF at 40
I turned 40 in Sept 18, my husband is 5 years younger. We only met 9 years ago & we married 4 years ago. We started ttc Oct 2015 with no success. This time last year we were referred for
<a href="https://glowing.com/glow-fertility-program">IVF</a>
, I’m in the U.K. & the process seems to be different from some of the stuff I’ve read on here, but the sharing of others experiences has really helped me so far, so thought I’d share too.
So in September 2018 I underwent egg retrieval. I had 13 follicles, but only 4 eggs. I was disappointed initially as I’d hope for more to increase our chances of success. However, all 4 had fertilised by the following morning. 2 went on to develop to good quality blastocysts & were frozen at day 5.
I was then treated for Fibroids, which doctors were concerned could hinder any potential chance of embryo implantation. This treatment started in November & I had monthly shots, through to January this year.
I’ve had a week of scans, every couple of days, measuring my uterine lining & yesterday one of our embryos was thawed successfully & transferred. It was all a little surreal & very emotional.
We are now playing the waiting game. We have to take a pregnancy test on 24th February. That’s a week on Sunday. It’s not even been 24 hours since the procedure & yet the waiting is already torture!
Obviously we are thinking positive thoughts, trying to remain relaxed & calm & patient. We want this to work SO MUCH!!! PLEASE IMPLANT 🤞🏻
UPDATE: 24th February 2019: Taken first test & positive result. Same goes for 2nd test.
Repeated test today, 26th & still positive! 🤞🏻this continues
