My baby is 3 weeks old today and I’ve been exclusively breastfeeding him. However the start of every breastfeeding session is total hell for me as I go through 10-15 seconds of excruciating latch on pain. I’ve screamed and cried and bite on my hand to get through the pain. After the initial pain, it goes off and breastfeeding is lovely. Ive checked his latch and it looks correct (confirmed by lactation nurses from my hospital as well). I’ve read that this pain is common but how long does it last? I want to look forward to breastfeeding not dread it. He has plenty of wet and poopy diapers (8-10 a day).
