Me and an ex started talking to each other again before Christmas. We met up while I was home from uni 2 weeks ago, and talked stuff through. I was unsure if he wanted anything serious and was hesitant as didn’t want to be used. He said wouldn’t be meeting with me unless he wanted something serious and long term.

Everything was completely fine and amazing and we hadn’t fallen out at all, and I asked a couple of days ago to meet but we didn’t because he had work, and lately his been a bit distant. He said could we talk about us, and he said that he wanted to concentrate on college, and work as he has to get loads of money to be able to learn to drive and get a car. He is also unsure as to what he is going to do next year, and said he doesn’t want to be unfair and keep me waiting. He still really likes me and that I’m not the problem but just doesn’t want to hurt me and string me along.

It will be long distance if we do make it work, and he wants it to work but just doesn’t think it will because of our busy schedules. I’ve said that we will work if we compromise and make little sacrifices like every relationship does. But he just doesn’t see the hope.

I feel like I need to give him hope to see that it will work because deep down he really does want it to, but just needs convincing.

Has anyone got any suggestions as to what else I can say to him to give hope for us and to at least try to make us work because we haven’t even tried so there’s no proof that it won’t work.
