Why do people react differently

Question

Why do people react differently when u announce ur pregnancy a couple of weeks before the 12 weeks? 
Announce at 12 and u get the full blown congrats etc 
Announce it early and people just like aw very good 
Mind baffling 
There is no difference really..nothing is certain until baby is born regardless of weeks

When we told our family on Christmas morning my mom said “ well it’s really early let’s be cautiously optimistic” I said absolutely not we waited so long to get pregnant I’m going to enjoy and celebrate every second of it. Being “cautiously optimistic” won’t change how heart broken we’d be if something went wrong

I think bc people associate miscarriages only happening early on, but the hard truth is it could happen at 8 weeks or 24 weeks. I think people should announce whenever they are ready and people looking on should be just be happy for them or make no comment at all.

I think a lot of people confuse social convention with medically necessary. To your point, there’s nothing magical about 12 weeks. It’s just when a lot of people start to show and it’s harder to hide.

There is actually science behind the announcing later, each week that the pregnancy progress the chance of miscarriage decreases. So at 3 weeks the change of miscarriage is 30% or higher, and then it steadily declines to less than 2% at twelve weeks. People are for the most part naturally risk adverse, so that’s why they are conditioned to not announcing until the risk is very low.

I watched a programme last night and s woman announced at 7 weekd...she was so happy and her way of thinking was..why not share the news and be happy from the start instead of hiding it away until it's socially acceptable to announce....its her body her baby...why should she hide news of her baby...what will be will be and to enjoy every moment

That’s interesting. I hadn’t thought about that but I’m guilty of thinking that the few times I’ve heard people announce (I always show enthusiasm but I am often surprised). I blame it on movies and tv.

I’ve never had a different reactions. We always announce between 8-10wks. People are always excited. Even with this being our 6th.
