Has anyone ever been in a school lockdown?

Today was hectic. As soon as I sat down for fourth period the principal came over the intercom saying there was a lockdown. My teacher hadn’t known about a drill, so we just kinda sat there wondering what was going on as he locked the door. Then the principal came over again and said it was not a drill. We heard loud banging noises that sounded like gunshots from far off. I was not scared, it all just felt so surreal.

We heard people screaming in the hallways, and the swat team and cops arrived. No one knew what was going on. This was very unusual for a small Arkansas school. An hour later, no one knew what was going on or what had happened. We found out that a few students had been arrested for having shotguns in the car, which wasn’t surprising considering it is hunting season. Another student was taken for possibly having a weapon w/ him on campus, or maybe shooting. No one knows.

Parents weren’t notified until a couple hours into the lockdown, and they were upset. Now everyone is still confused because the news, the school, and students all have different stories.

Later I heard about a shooting in Illinois and thank God no one was hurt today. Hopefully we will all find out what happened later.
