Arbonne - is it a waste of time?

Question

My friend is encourage me to become an Arbonne consultant.
Usually I hate network marketing type things, but I appreciate how ethical the company is compared to many.
But am I just going to lose money? Is it a bit of a scam? 
Does anyone have any experience? 
They all tell you you can earn loads but I hate the idea of having to pay a company upfront to let them work for you! That part seems unethical to me. Especially if you don't earn what they say you will. My friends already using her credit card to purchase products to recommend. 
We're both on maternity leave, dreading go back to employers we hate and there's poor employment opportunities in our area. That's the only reason I'm tempted. I just want more time with my baby boy :(

I feel tht all these companies who make you pay to work for them are all a bit of a scam.
Arbonne is like the others, you have to pester everybody to buy your things and the ones who make good money with are reaaaaaaaaally annoying. The ones who just let things flow don't make good money with it.

I'm not sure how arbomme works. I did mary kay for a while and I also had to buy a ton of stuff just to start working with them. I ended up selling everything but I didnt Stick with it because the inventory was too much. 2 years later I ran into doTERRA. after a year and a half of using the product and researching the business model i decided to sell their products. I dont have to keep inventory and I get to help people with their health. I have made over 600 in 2 months working full time. I also took a training course called emerge salesy training, which was helpful for not being that annoying sales person to my family. If you don't want your friends and family to start hating you, don't so it. The products are so overpriced, you could easily end up spending more money than you make. Plus some of their "science" that they market their products with is questionable.
