Blighted Ovum???

On Thursday, at 5 weeks, I went to the ER because I was having some cramping & brownish red discharge & spotting when I wiped. They did blood work & my levels looked good: 10,000. They advised me to follow up with an ultrasound the next morning. So the next day at 5w1d I did an ultrasound & all they saw was a gestational sac. No yolk, no fetal pole. Do you guys have any similar experiences where your blood levels were good but you had an empty sac? Do you think it’s too early?? I go back Thursday at 6 weeks..do you think there is a chance of seeing something then?

UPDATE: I just went to the doctor & he did an ultrasound & there baby was with that heartbeat flickering❤️ 6wks today

It definitely can be too early I went in at 5 weeks for bleeing and they only say a sac had a repeat ultrasound and 6 1/2 weeks and still just a sac finally at 8 week scan we saw a baby and she is growing strong I'm 28 weeks now. Good luck and I hope it turns out the same for you.

Yeah I’ve heard that levels can still be normal because your body still thinks you’re pregnant but I have an appointment in the morning and I’m feeling hopeful🤞🏽🙏🏽❤️

I had a blighted ovum, but it was confirmed at 8 weeks. I would wait, that’s still really early.

Sorry to hear that😔 I hope it’s a misdiagnosis.

Baby and you is more than likely perfectly fine. You wouldnt see anything that early anyway. Not till 6 weeks at least is when you should see something on an ultrasound.

5 weeks is to early. I had my first ultrasound at 6 weeks and saw yolk sac and baby. Hopefully you'll see a little more at the next one.

That’s still really early for that. I need a trans vaginal until 7 weeks

Levels vary for everyone and are not a good indicator of how far along you are. At 5 weeks it’s good to just see a sac, this is why most doctors won’t even give you an ultrasound until you’re at least 8weeks (this is when you should at least see the things they were looking for).

I hope so. The doctor(not my doctor, a different OB) made it seem like it should have been there. And I figured since my levels were high then maybe she was right.
