It’s a girl
It’s a girl! Our daughter was born fast and furious at 2:33pm yesterday.
She was 7lbs 11oz and 18.9” long.
I went in for a membrane sweep on Thursday at 3:30pm and was only 1cm dilated and not fully effected. I started having pretty regular Braxton Hicks type contractions immediately after. That night the contractions started getting painful and were between 2-5min apart. I went in the next morning at 9am and was 3cm dilated and fully effaced. They placed cervadil to help me get going more because I was meant to be induced this day. Nothing much happened for a couple of hours, then around 11:30am I told my husband he should head up from work since contractions were picking up. We went for a walk and did some stairs, then did a Side lying release from spinning babies and things progressed REALLY fast. By 1:30pm I was really having to concentrate to breathe and husband was super helpful with supporitng my weight through standing up contractions. I started using laughing gas to help take he edge off the pain since anesthesia was not available for an epidural at that time. My water broke sometime around this time still
While standing through contractions. They checked me at 2:25 and I was 5cm. I had asked (begged!) for an epidural again and they said I appeared to be handling it well and I should wait for 20 mins (I think anaesthesia was still in the OR.) 2 few mins later I was uncontrollably pushing and the doc rushed in. They got me in bed and and told me baby would be here in 1 or two pushes. 2 contractions later she was here! Super intense. Lots of tearing but thankfully not super deep. Getting lots of stitches without an epidural sucks big time though.
Funny how my first labour I didn’t want to get an epidural but got one, and this one I wanted an epidural and couldn’t get it in time. 🤷♀️
