I am 17 and my boyfriend is 19 , we have been together for 3 years , he is the love of my life , I know I am young to say that but he treats me so well and we are like best friends , but my parents somehow can’t see that he loves me since he is such a shy person and isn’t really himself around my parents cause he’s trying to impress them , I feel like I have to choose between him and my family , they aren’t happy for me , aren’t supportive and are always negative, for example, he recently left his job for a new one starting on Monday and wasn’t able to buy me a birthday present since he has to pay rent and his own phone bill , and my parents have been using that as an excuse or ‘proof ‘ that he doesn’t love me even though he’s planning to take me ice skating and dinner for my birthday at the end of the month when he manages to get money , presents are the last thing on my mind , but that’s my parents ‘measure of love ‘ now apparently, he is the most amazing boyfriend and we are so close , he looks after me so well and just loves me for who I am and is definitely the man I would love to spend the rest of my life with , I just don’t know what to do about this situation please help
