Hitchhikers

Tonight me and my bf were driving down a dark road with no lights. He turns to me and says “did you see that?” I said “no?” He said “there was a man on the side of the road. We should pick him up “. I told him no and that he may be dangerous. My bf said that he may actually need help and went on about how his dad used to do it (his dad has passed on btw). I understand he may be harmless and a genuinely nice guy but he could also be a serial killer and I’m not my willing to gamble my options. So my question is would you have picked him up ?
