Carseat insert??

FTM and I have the graco carseat (pictured below) and it has a thin liner in it that doesnt seem to be much head support to me so I purchased one off Amazon (pictured below) but I'm not sure if it's good to use it since it didnt come with the carseat. Are inserts necessary or will my LO be okay without?

You aren’t supposed to use anything that did not come with the seat unless you got it from the manufacturer yourself. If you use Facebook, Car seats for the Little’s is a great group! They are cpsts and can answer your questions!

Personally, I would rather go with one that has been crash tested like this one, or one that Britax made. They are all very similar, but knowing they went through being crash tested makes me feel like it's a little safer.

My youngest was 5lbs 8oz when we brought him home and we just rolled two receiving blankets and placed them beside him. That’s what was recommended by hospital as they don’t affect the car seat at all.

I was going to say the same thing. Theh say unless it came with the carseat you technically shouldn't use it. However when my daughter was born I had to use my best judgment with an insert/head support we had to buy because she was so little (4lbs 15oz at birth).

I also can’t find the insert to our infant seat and graco is out of the actual one they make I guess. I’m not replacing it as it’s not safe to use something that didn’t come from the manufacturer and goes between baby and seat or straps.

Join car seats for the littles and carseat safety on fb. They have cpsts that are trained and know the ins and outs. But like others said, you shouldn'tuse after market stuff with the carseat, even shoulder pads and the like that didnt come with the seat.

I used one in my Graco car seat with my first son and he did great. They do say not to use it unless it comes with the seat but I just felt he was so much more comfortable with it and he strapped in just fine.
