I'm 15 almost 16 and I want to be on birth control before I start having sex what kind would you girls recommend?

I'm 21 and I've had the Nexplanon in for almost 6 months now! At first it was a little rocky while my body was getting used to the hormones but now I love it! If I have any bleeding at all it is very very light and I don't really have cramps at all! I used to have terrible cramps and heavy bleeding the first few days of my period and now it's great! My husband and I don't use any other birth control method and I haven't had any issues or scares at all! It's pretty great!

I've been on the shot and the pill. The shot made me gain 15lbs! But I've been on the pill for 5 years now and it makes my periods lighter and less painful and they only last about 4 days. It's really your preference, everybody's different. So just test some birth control out for yourself and see!

Be very careful with the pills!  I have been on birth control since I was 16 and I am now 34.  I had broke my foot in July and with no movement and birth control I ended up with a 5 inch blood clot in my leg and pieces of the clot broke off and went through my heart and to my lungs!  The pills worked for me.  Just be careful I don't want anyone else going through what I did.  I no longer take it now that I am taking blood thinner.

The pill is great because you can experiment with many different brands and hormone levels to find your best fit. The patch is also a good one you don't often hear about. I had to get one because the doctor couldn't get an iud in me. It's discreet, it stays, I've had ZERO side effects from it vs a couple headaches and mood swings from different pills. I recommend the pill to try first, patch if you have trouble remembering to take it every day.
