My 12 month old plays in the snow but she wears 18 months, so unless you’re willing to possibly regift this or something. Just buy bigger in case.

I wouldn't be buying a snowsuit a year in advance. You have no idea what size your child will be at that point. By 12 months, our daughter was wearing 18-24 month clothing and then by 15ish months, she was wearing 2T. She's now 20 months and wears 3T. You really can't predict those things.
