Lately my bf has been saying stuff like, “I don’t even love you”, “ugly ass”, “fat ass”, “annoying”, “shut up”. 
we joke around but it’s starting to hurt my feelings. I did confront him today that it feels like he doesn’t love me anymore. he responded, “what made you say that?” “You know I just joke around”

It doesn’t matter if he means it as a joke or not, those words should never come out of his mouth. Absolutely unacceptable.

No you’re not being too sensitive. That’s just not okay, “playing” or not. This isn’t middle school where the meaner someone is to you the more they like you 🙄 even back then it was not an excuse to be an asshole IMO.

Id say if its hurting your feelings its not ok thats all that really matters.  If you can joke like that and it not hurt your feelings then its cool the second its hurts your feelings he needs to stop.

You should tell him what hurts you vs what doesn’t. If it’s been allowed as a joke before then maybe he isn’t aware that it’s starting to rub you the wrong way, you know? Be clear and firm about what you won’t accept but also be understanding if he genuinely didn’t know it was bothering you.

I mean i get jokes with my s/o like if I'm playing a dirty move on Xbox he say something like " yo your mad gay for that" obviously I'm not gay but i know its a joke, in your case that shit sounds mean and boarding abusive language.

It really depends on your relationship me and my boyfriend make jokes all the time like ill ask what he did today and he’ll be like oh hung out with my side chick and I say the same thing. But we have a line I do not like being called a bitch that specific word he knows is not allowed just like his is dumbass he won’t tolerate being called dumb ass joking or not. Doesn’t mean we don’t still say things like “stupid”, he calls me chunky as a joke because my home nickname is Flaca I’m 6’0 and very skinny so it’s cute. But if you don’t like what he calls you I would discuss it with him if he doesn’t change get you someone better.
