I'm having a hard time determining what is day 1 of my cycle. My periods always start with about 1 day of spotting and then 2-3 more days of light to medium flow that is brown in color before I actually have the heavy flow that's red in color and the cramps, lasting 2-3 more days. I've read that day 1 starts only when your heavy flow starts, but if that were the case then I must ovulate early since I had an ovulation test show LH surge that would have only been at day 10 of the cycle if I'm counting one way or day 14 (which is more normal) if I'm counting the other way. I'm concerned that I'm actually missing the fertile days and doing it too late. Can anyone help me figure this out?
