Dont eat before IUD procedure

Hi ladies,

Today I went to the doctor to get a Mirena IUD inserted after a prior consultation. She had prescribed me a super cheap pill that widens my cervix diameter and had me take it the night before and morning of my procedure. The procedure was painful, but didnt surpass the pain of my worst-ever period experiences.

Once the IUD was in and tools were taken out, she asked if I felt dizzy or lightheaded. I felt both those things, so she told me to lay back while she typed her notes in the computer. Not 2 minutes later, I said my gag reflex was getting stronger. She didnt think much of it because no ladies had ever puked after, only feeling nauseous. Well, I guess theres always a first time for everything. I puked up the entire contents of my stomach.

Looking back, the procedure definitely had me clamping up and "convulsing" and squeezing my hands together to get through the pain. The procedure was at 1pm and I'd eaten a fairly large lunch at 11:30 without much thought for the procedure.

Be sure to only eat a very light meal and give plenty of time for your body to digest before getting the IUD 🤦‍♀️
