When is best to pump?

Hi mamas so my baby is now 2 weeks after day 4 my milk came in and it was so much more than what baby was eating I started pumping and getting about 9 to 15 oz a day extra for saving in the freezer. Well yesterday I felt my breast were not as full and baby was feeding way more often then normal so I decided not to pump and just feed him and just for the heck of it I did it today as well so that makes 2 days of specially bf not pumping at all. My question is when did you ladies started pumping is their a best time for this? My breast are still not as hard but he is eating fine now. If my breast are soft does that mean I dont have enough milk to pump extra I'm so confused now
