My previous pregnancy went so smoothly, no complications besides developing a hypothyroid (which went back to normal after birth).

The birth was relatively fast & easy (9 hrs after being induced, & 2 pushes). Everything was perfect up until I was given my second dose of the RhoGam injection ( my daughters blood type was B+, & my blood was A-). I thought nothing of it because I was given the injection previously at my 28week appointment & had zero reaction...but the second time I was given it, I immediately had a reaction. My body & throat felt uncomfortable & tingly, my legs and arms started to turn blotchy & red, my throat started to close, my tongue swelled up, I had a high fever, & it felt like I was gonna pass out. The nurse called the other doctors into the room & they injected me with something similar to Benedryl & monitored me for 15 minutes. I was fine afterwards, but the whole situation was confusing, & I was so scared on what was gonna happen during my future pregnancies. I was told if you’re Rh negative, it’s mandatory to receive the injection in order to protect the baby from antibodies.

Over the past year I was brought to multiple allergists, that either never contacted me back, didn’t have the proper testing supplies, or had to get permission from the government to use RhoGam for allergy testing.

I fell pregnant before my allergist appointment & now they might have to cancel the whole thing & wait until after I give birth to do the test. Which doesn’t help my situation at all.🙂

My first prenatal appointment is next week & I’m just praying my doctor will be able to give me some answers & hopefully we’ll be able to find a safe alternative🤞🏼
