Calling Red Cross when you’re in labor

Only comment if you’ve had to go this route when your husband was deployed. If you haven’t personally been through it then refrain from commenting please.

My husband is deploying this week and I am due in 10 weeks. He gave me the number to Red Cross and said when I’m in labor and get checked into the hospital or go through triage that is when I would call them. I don’t have any information besides where he’s going. So idk how that would work. I also don’t know if he would even make it back home in time which stresses me out.

He got his deployment orders that stated he gets to come home 96 hours prior to my due date (NTL) which I assume means no time limit? I know it’s up to his commander. This is a deployment but it isn’t overseas like to Afghanistan. So idk if the rules are different. It’s not a combat deployment. So which one do I go by and what do I do? I missed the town hall meeting and this is our first deployment together. I wouldn’t stress but who wants to go through labor alone if they don’t have to? So no rude comments about how I’m lucky he may even get to come home or how I may not even get that option. It states in the paper that he is allowed to come home 96 hours prior. So I’m gonna fight with all I have for him to be here because if not then I am laboring alone. So if you know how this works or have personally been through it can you please give me pointers or directions? What am I supposed to do in this situation?

Also want to add the paper states that if the spouse is due before March 30, the service member doesn’t deploy. My due date is obviously later than that so I didn’t get that option but the fact that they would be exempt is a possibility that my husband could come home for the birth.
