No, but if I were your parent I’d tell you you that if you have time to post on the internet, you have time to eat dinner. 
It scares me how much that makes me sound like my mother. 😂

Only if you can't go because you mismanaged your time. Like, if this dinner had been planned for weeks and then you spent several days with friends rather than working on homework earlier this week and now you've run out of time to do both your homework/study and go to the dinner. If this is what happened, they have a right to be mad. I had a friend in college who kept going to concerts and then cancelling plans with me because she "had to get her homework done". Like, if I were higher on her priority list than those concerts, she would have done her homework early and would have had time for me.

Here’s the scenario: my parents have pushed to go into all honors, very difficult classes. As a result, I always have a lot of extra schoolwork and projects and spends most my days studying. My problem is that if I go to the dinner, I won’t be able to complete my schoolwork(hours) and will therefore be punished with 4 absences and bad grades on the assignments. Depends on the situation.. if it’s an overwhelming amount of daily homework due overnight, opting out of a random dinner out seems like a responsible call... however if you procrastinated and working in the final hours it is due rather then attend a dinner you may have had notice for as well, then you didn’t manage your time well and I could understand them being annoyed

I said no then thought I'd all the times my step kids procrastinated with their homework, so it depends if it's work you just got that's needed the next day or that's the only chance you have to do it or whether it's something you've had plenty of time for but put it off until last minute

You out of school at noon, maybe eat lunch until 1, do your online classes until 3, go ride your horse until 5, go eat dinner until 7, come home and do more until classes until 9, brush your teeth and go to bed.
